March 2004 saw the long-awaited arrival of the round-the-world runner, Rosie Swale Pope. After running 3,000 kms across Europe, Rosie arrived in Moscow and spent the next 2 weeks on a grueling schedule of interviews and fundraising events. But it wasn’t all work! Rosie spent a weekend in Kitezh where she could see for herself the children and the therapeutic work she is working so hard to support. A soak and a massage in the banya served to ease a few aches and pains, and a comedy show performed by the children meant that our guest of honour was able to relax and enjoy herself among her many new friends.  Back in Moscow, accompanied by 6 Kitezh children,
Dora the dog, and 50 ex-pats and Muscovites, Rosie led the way on the biggest of the fundraising events: a Fun Run through the city centre, from the British Embassy to the Embassy Residence, on a route which led across Red Square by the Kremlin and along the Moskva River. It was a huge success and indeed a lot of fun for everyone involved!!

All the children and adults at Kitezh wish Rosie the best of luck as she sets off towards Siberia for the rest of her run. She has certainly won a special place in everybody’s hearts…

“THANK YOU ROSIE! COME BACK AND VISIT US SOON! WE LOVE YOU!!!”
