FAQs
1.How many children are living in Kitezh?
21 + various children on therapeutic
programme
in
Kitezh and 6 children in Orion
2.How many adults are living in Kitezh?
11 foster parents in 8 families and 4 foster parents in 3 families in Orion + several
grown-up children + young adults who are living in Kitezh during/after
studies. Total children + adults = usually 60-65
3.How does Kitezh choose which children to take?
Kitezh
foster parents are in contact on an ongoing basis with social workers,
who tell Kitezh about children in orphanages who would be likely to
benefit from growing up there. The
criteria for selection are simple; does this child want to come, and
will he or she study? The children visit
Kitezh, and everyone, including the child, decides whether this
is the right move for this particular child.
4.What happens to the children when they
finish school?
Kitezh is their home, for as long as
they choose, and children who grow up in Kitezh are welcome there at
any time, in the same way that any loved son or daughter is welcome at
their parents’ home. Each child is given full support to study further,
and/or to gain vocational skills.
