We are excited to announce a new development for Kitezh Children's Villages in Russia: land was secured and we are building a second village for foster families and orphan children, named Orion. | | | The land in 2004 | | Now it is already a village. | | | Orion's first house | Orion is located in Kaluga Region an hour out of Moscow and two hours from Kitezh Community. It will be home for 10-15 new foster families and 30-50 orphan children. Spearheaded by Dmitry Morozov, the founder of Kitezh Children's Community, and young adults who were raised at Kitezh, Orion is the first step towards creating a network of children's communities that take orphan children out of institutions to give them a family, an education and a real chance in life. In summer 2005 Kitezh graduates and their student friends built another two houses themselves! | | | They plan to live and work in Orion once they have completed their studies, to help other children in the way that Kitezh helped them. | | | | | |
| Construction of the Education Centre in Orion was completed in autumn 2007. | | This centre will provide a space for classrooms, recreation and sports facilities, and a theatre. We welcome your support for this great initiative that improves the lives of increasing numbers of Russian orphans. | | |
